Established a new IT service management infrastructure, replacing independent systems operated by the Prisons, Courts and Probation Service. Designed and implemented the common service management system, on-boarded sixty five IT services, managed suppliers and reported to stakeholder boards.

Led a team to define and implement a new IT and shared services function. The staff was drawn from five semi-independent divisions. A strong business case and viable operating strategy were key prerequisites. Efficiency savings of 15% and higher levels of internal customer service. Stakeholder management and staff engagement were critical activities.

Designed and implemented a worldwide demand and supply planning process and selected and implemented a supporting IT system (AspenTech) in the chemicals business.

Established a global category management strategy, organisation and system (SAP) for all purchased commodities.

Led a programme to design standard global IT customer service and support processes and run a process to outsource the work to a tier one service provider.

Produced a plan for cost reduction throughout the Department in management reporting, procure to pay, recharging and overhead reduction, producing annual savings of £20 million.

Led a programme to evaluate, select and implement a new IT system (Oracle BIEE) for all business functions, producing annual savings of £35 million.
